Megan Leslie Daddario, who was courageously battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma and a congenital heart condition, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. Her family was at her bedside. Megan was 19 and a resident of Shiloh. She was born in Bridgeton on May 12, 1992 and attended Stow Creek, Shiloh and Hopewell Crest School where she graduated from 8th grade in 2006. Last June she graduated from Cumberland Regional High School and this past fall attended Eastern University in St. David's, Pennsylvania, where she planned to attain her bachelor's degree in nursing. Megan was the 2010
C. Wallis Goodwin Scholarship recipient. When she became sick in January she was unable to continue her schooling, but had every hope to return next fall.
Megan was an active member of the Cumberland Regional High School Class of 2010. She was an officer in Peer Mediation and Peer Leadership and was the manager for the baseball team. Also active in the community, she was a N.J. Certified EMT and a volunteer at South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center. She worked with the Greenwich Rescue Squad and more recently with the Upper Deerfield Rescue Squad. She also worked as an aide at the Toy Box Preschool in Bridgeton.
A member of the Sharptown United Methodist Church, she was a volunteer at Jersey Oaks; the Seventh Day Baptist Camp in Lower Alloway Creek. Megan also loved baseball and softball. In addition to playing at West Cumberland Little League, she was happy to serve as the scorekeeper for the SJ Devils baseball team.
During the past several months Megan inspired many members of the local community with her faithful and deliberate fight against her illnesses. "Something 4 Megan" was a fund established to help with her medical expenses. Various events such as dinner at the Green Olive Restaurant, breakfast at the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Shiloh and the sale of wristbands and hats were all generously supported. "Megan's Walk" was held at Cumberland Regional, and money was raised by Peer Mediation and other groups within the school to support lymphoma research. Many other community groups worked to support her medical treatment.
In 19 short years, she brought together many people in spirit and hope by continuing to live her life to the fullest.

She is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
